Paint Like a Girl VII

In this five-session class over  6 weeks, we will look to our female painting ancestors as well as some powerhouse contemporary artists for inspiration. The class is part art history, part studio work for a fully immersive way of learning how to paint.

Whether you are a beginner or practicing artist, this class is designed to stimulate your creativity while discovering new techniques and artists.  Featured this session are four uncompromising artists:  Abstract artists, Grace Hartigan,  Alma Thomas, Bay Area’s own Joan Brown and contemporary powerhouse Jennifer Packer. 

Working across multiple genres of painting; still life, landscape, figurative and abstraction, Willis will guide you to new ways of seeing and painting. Lecture and demos begin each class as well as weekly reviews of the painted assignments. Projects require some painting time outside class. Weekly paintings are done on gessoed paper which is included in the materials fee. Acrylic and oil painters encouraged.
