Summer Painting: Finding Inspiration through Time and Place Fridays June 26th to August 18th NO Class July 21
In this summer painting class, we will look at artists who are influenced by place and a nod to the duration of time. Those spaces can be tactile and inhabited, imagined and empty or based on a belief. Four distinct artists looking at the world through their individual lens will provide a path for us to experiment with light and color.
Claude Monet
Starting with Monet’s time in Venice, we will explore the effects of color and light on the canals of Venice and look at how water can lure us to edge of discovery.
Jamie Wyeth
What happens when you are a third generation of a recognized line of painters. How does the influence of representational legacy provide a foundation that can ultimately lead to a new freedom and a place for departure in ones work?
Hilma Af Klint
Art has the power to transcend time and conventions. Klint hid her profoundly ambitious abstract paintings, as if knowing they were ahead of the times. With new movements being whispered about, she expressed the spiritual in art in private leaving us to discover years after her death.
