Stunning views of vineyards, rolling hills and a lake. Followed by a lunch of charcuterie, assorted cheeses and Cuvaison wine. Painting 9:30 to 12:30   lunch  12:30 to 2:00.  $125.00

Santa’s Printmaking Workshop

Get a jump on all the holidays with this printmaking workshop and create beautiful gifts for you and your list of lucky recipients. No experience necessary! Take one or two sessions.

TIME: 9:30am–12:30pm & 1:30pm–4:30pm
COST: $85 per person each session or $150 all day

Paint Like a Girl: East Meets West

The east coast may lay claim to Abstract Expressionism, but on the west coast we have Bay Area Figuration.  In this new iteration of Paint Like a Girl, we will focus on the influence of the two schools and the contributions of female painters to both movements. This is your chance to get in touch with your female powerhouse painter and let go of the confines of representation. We will also explore the methods and practices of some of the best contemporary painters working today.  The class has been extended to 7 sessions over 9  weeks.

In class projects, research assignments and inspired group critiques make this a rich and vigorous experience.  MFLGBT are all welcome to discover how to let go of past assumptions about painting and connect with the abstract painter within.

Printmaking Workshop: Mixed Media with Printmaking  

Looking to mix up your art-making practice? This class will incorporate the essentials of monotype with drawing, pastel, watercolor and chin collé. We will use layering, cropping and embellishing to push the boundaries of the status quo and then edit the work into a cohesive series. Beginners and experienced printmakers welcome!

Bring sketchbook, ideas and a selection of previous prints if you have them to first class.

Tuesdays February 26th, March 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th

The years 1863 to 1874 found artists Manet, Cezanne, Monet and Renoir facing self-doubt, rejection from the salons and few sales of their paintings. Artists like Ernest Meissonier achieved popular and economic success while few people today are familiar with his work. In this painting class, we will inhabit Paris from 1863 to 1874 and follow the intersections of the artists and the influences on their work. By framing the past as relevant to current painting practices we gain a better understanding of the artists achievements and inspiration to take risks and persevere.  This six-week class has in-class and weekly painting projects as well as some research including contemporary artists.  All levels of oil and acrylic painting are welcome. Bring painting materials and sketchbook to first class meeting (You must be registered beforehand.)
