Whether you are a plein aire, still life or abstract painter, the complexities of making a painting present problems to solve. In this focused 5-session class we will look at how color and light can create form and movement in a painting. Looking at examples of Turner and Eric Fischl and their techniques, we will examine how to effectively use light and color to achieve compelling results.

Class includes research, in-class and take home painting assignments as well as some independent painting. A perfect way to start a summer day whether you are a beginner or advanced painter. For beginners and advanced painters.

Printmaking Workshop - Intro to Monotype

Whether you are already a printmaker, or have yet to discover the joys of a hand pulled print, join us at Nimbus Arts new printmaking studio for four weeks of creative bliss and discovery.

Monotype can be the most painterly printmaking process and also the most accessible. After a brief demo+ lecture, we will create images on Plexiglas plates and transfer them to paper using the Conrad French American printing press. Each week we will focus on one of the many approaches to monotype, working from photos or drawings, abstractly and with organic material. Bring sketchbook + ideas to first class. $175

*Inks and most materials are included. One sheet of RIVES BFK will be provided at first class with paper available to purchase on site.

Small & Large Format Printmaking
Nimbus Arts In these one-day workshops you can discover the beauty of the artist hand pulled print. Working with both and additive and subtractive process, students will apply ink to Plexiglas plates, and transfer to paper using the Conrad French American printing press. Create a series of small scale work or go BIG and discover the joys of living large. We will develop imagery from photos, drawings, or organic source material to create a series of prints that will leave you smiling and high-fiving the artist within you. $175
